Free Christmas radio stations to stream on Android
Christmas in Cairns is hot, humid and often wet. There's no snow, just palm trees and the beach, and the carols still sound right. Here are four internet radio stations I'd point you to, and how to play them on your phone.
Totally Radio's Christmas channel
This is my pick. Totally Radio is an Australian streaming station, and its Christmas channel is the one I listen to. My family mostly puts it on closer to the day.
It isn't on air yet. The Totally Radio site shows the channel as "Back in November", with no date given. In Musika, search for "Totally Radio Xmas". Totally Radio does run some ads, though not many.
Christmas FM (Ireland)
Christmas FM is Ireland's seasonal Christmas station, and it raises money for Irish charities each year. Its FM broadcast in Ireland runs for about a month over Christmas.
Christmas FM Classical & Carols
Christmas FM's sister stream plays classical pieces and carols, and it's a favourite on Radio Browser, the open directory Musika uses. Put it on if you'd like something calmer.
181.FM Christmas Spirit
181.FM runs more than a dozen Christmas channels, and Christmas Spirit is a good place to start. If it isn't quite your style, search "181.FM Christmas" in Musika to see the others.
How to play them in Musika
- Open Musika and search for the station name.
- Tap the station to play it.
- Tap the heart to save it as a favourite, so it's one tap away next time.
Musika also works with Android Auto, so the same stations can play in the car. Here's how to set it up.
About ads
Unlike TuneIn, Musika doesn't slot in its own pre-roll ads before a station starts, and it doesn't show ads at all. The stations themselves are another matter. Some carry their own ads or sponsor messages, and that's up to them.
Try it
Search for any of these in Musika and save the ones you like for the run-up to Christmas.
