Musika
The best internet radio apps for Android, compared
There is no single best internet radio app for Android. There's the best one for how you listen. If you want podcasts and live sport, TuneIn. If you want to explore the world by spinning a globe, Radio Garden. If you want open-source software with recording and an alarm clock, RadioDroid. If you want the widest range of devices, myTuner. If you want stations with no ads, no account and no tracking, including in the car, Musika.
Musika is my app, so read this knowing that. Every comparison below includes the cases where the other app is the better pick, and I've checked each claim against the app's own store listing and documentation.

The apps, one by one
TuneIn
The biggest name, with over 100,000 stations plus podcasts, audiobooks and live sport. The free app carries ads, a one-time Pro version removes TuneIn's own ads, and a Premium subscription adds commercial-free news and sport. Best for: people who want everything in one app and don't mind paying to quiet it. Musika compared with TuneIn
Radio Garden
A 3D globe where every green dot is a city you can tune into. Nothing else makes discovery this much fun. The free tier has ads, a paid tier removes them, and there's no Android Auto. Best for: exploring. Musika compared with Radio Garden
RadioDroid
Open source, no ads, built on the same community station directory Musika uses, with recording and an alarm clock. As of October 2026 it isn't on Google Play; it's still on F-Droid, where the latest version dates from October 2023. No Android Auto and no widget. Best for: open-source users who record or wake up to radio. Musika compared with RadioDroid
myTuner Radio
Over 50,000 stations, a large podcast library, Android Auto, Chromecast and an alarm, and it runs on more devices than any app here. The free version has ads, removed by an in-app purchase, and it's included in Google Play Pass. Best for: Play Pass subscribers and people who want podcasts. Musika compared with myTuner
Musika
Search tens of thousands of stations, save favourites, and play them on your phone, in the car with Android Auto, or on a speaker with Chromecast. No ads at any tier, no account and no analytics. Free for up to five favourites and two custom streams; one A$3.49 unlock removes both caps, and nothing renews. Best for: people who want a radio app that just plays stations. Features
